Joshua Furman, DVM, Owner
Native to Orange County, Dr. Furman grew up in the town of Greenville and graduated from Minisink Valley Central School District. He attended Orange County Community College, SUNY Delhi, SUNY New Paltz, and the University of South Florida. Dr. Furman received his doctorate degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine located in St. Kitts, West Indies. He then finished his clinical year of schooling at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Many may recognize Dr. Furman from his work as a relief veterinarian in clinics through out the area. In addition to his relief work, Dr. Furman was an emergency veterinarian for 4 years at Orange County Animal Emergency Clinic. In May 2006, Dr. Furman fulfilled a life long dream of purchasing his clinic, Monhagen Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Furman lives in Middletown with his wife Jaimee and their dogs Hank, Arthur, and Benson; and their cats Fred and Ash. He enjoys snowmobiling, mountain biking, golfing, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Furman is proud to be the veterinarian for the Middletown Police K-9 Unit, the Orange County Arson K-9, as well as other K-9 units through out Orange and Sullivan County, and New York City.
In addition to his work as a veterinarian, Dr. Furman has been approached by a number of publishing companies fo the rights to his 400 page veterinary review book. This book focuses on assisting veterinarians to better prepare themselves for their National Board exam. Dr. Furman wrote this book while attending his final year of veterinary school at the University of Minnesota The review book has sold over 200 copies and is currently only available through the University of Minnesota Veterinary book store. Dr. Furman also contributes pet care articles to the Times Herald Record.
Dr. Furman is a professional member of the New York State Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. We are pleased to announce that Dr. Furman was recently featured on the CBS Early Show.
Kelli Hewlett, DVM, CVA
Dr. Kelli Hewlett is a native to Sullivan County. After graduating SUNY Oswego, she pursued her dream of becoming a veterinarian at Ross University. While at Ross she won the small animal team surgery award. She then attended Texas A&M for her clinical year. Dr. Hewlett is a member of the New York State Veterinary Medical Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture and the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.
Dr. Hewlett is interested in alternative medicine. She is currently offering acupuncture and herbs as alternative or complimentary treatment for many common diseases and musculoskeletal problems. Dr. Hewlett also became certified for stem cell therapy mainly used for arthritic pets.
When not at the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family. Her hobbies include running, hiking, skiing, and biking. She shares her home with two adorable cats, Kitt and Centa, who she acquired during vet school in St. Kitts. Dr. Hewlett recently adopted a red and white Siberian Husky named Rhett.
Leah Wagner
Leah is native to Orange County growing up in Port Jervis. After high school graduation she attended Orange County Community College where she received a degree in Business Administration. She then attended Nyack College. She has worked in the animal health care industry for the past 19 years. Leah enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her three dogs, Vinnie, Jackie, and Missie.
Cathy Hoffman
Cathy is married and the proud mom of 2 children. She is also mom to the family’s 2 German Shepherds, Heather and Hunter, and their 5 felines, Diego, Tootie, Momo, Chi Chi, and Manny. Cathy is native to Orange County and has worked in the animal health care industry for over 20 years.
Michelle Martucci
Michelle Martucci was born and raised in Westtown New York. In 2009 she graduated from New Paltz with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She is currently earning a degree in Veterinary Technology at Ulster County Community College and will be graduating in December 2010. Michelle has been working at Monhagen Veterinary Hospital since 2006. She enjoys spending time with her dog Ace and competing in western pleasure events with her horse Linus. She also raises Holstein calves and has chickens and a lamb named Melvin.
